About Hormann's Firewood

Originally primarily a livestock farm, we started selling logs to friends and neighbours in the mid nineties. It soon became clear that there was a large demand and so we began to expand, with investments in processors and other machinery to become more efficient. As sales have increased over the years we have taken on extra labour for the winter and built a drying system to ensure we have stock all year round.

Sustainability is important to us and since 2004 we’ve planted an additional 50,000 hardwood trees on our least productive land, with a mix including Ash, Oak, Hazel, and Rowan, and with the aid of Brecon Beacons National park and the National grid we also included two acres of specialist dormouse habitat which, amongst other conservation work, has seen us recommended for several management and habitat awards for our work with woodland and ponds.

In 2008 Swansea University produced a case study considering Fan Farms sustainable development. To read Safeguarding The Future please click here.
